All my days

Even I said in my last post that I would post pictures of my Eton Mess, well.. I won't. It was.. mess. And gone weird because I forgot it too long in freezer and the cream was all flaky.

Whipping cream in the heat is a challenge, mine turned to butter instantly from liquid and I did stupidly throw it away even it was perfect butter (and buttermilk!).

I'm having 3 weeks of sickleave, still the same wrist problem what took bad turn when I went back to work. My doctor adviced me to quit my job and find new one, no physical work with these bird boned wrists, she said.

So, I called to my boss (it took me hours to figure out how to tell the news, when I knew what amount of work there is..) and told the situation. He wasn't happy and wanted to talk later. Today I asked news, that should I leave the company (I prefer to leave than get fired) and actually he proposed another job for me! No more cleaning :)
I will propably take care of kids 20h per week, then start secretary works on september. I'm happy about this!

It's the season of abricots here, so tasty ones!

And i'm filled with cafe au lait. all the time.
I should already make the ice coffee instead..

Feeling lazy... have a great weekend!
this sweetheart did love R's bag and was cuddling (and biting it) with it while we had BBQ at friend's place :)
I wanted to take all the 3 cats what they had to home ;)

Lemon curd

I read Seven Spoons' post about Frozen Raspberry Eton Mess, it looked so yummy that of course I needed to try it!

I went to find ingrediences from store, but didn't find lemon curd. So I took few lemons from store and headed back to home. I found easy recipe in finnish to follow, as I didn't even know how lemon curd should taste. Shame on me. Or maybe I have tasted in in Brussels, but I didn't remember.

The result was so sweet and sharp, lemon and sugar combined. I love it.

Lemon Curd (translated from the recipe @ Koti & Keittiö)
6 spoons of butter
3 eggs
2dl sugar
2 lemon's juice (+ I added lemon zest)

1. Melt the butter
2. Whisk the eggs and sugar to a foam. Add lemon juice (+ zest) and butter while whisking.
3. Warm the mix in bain-marie and whisk until lemon curd starts to get thick.

Easy right? :)

And soon my Eton Mess is ready for tasting and pictures.. yummy!

Decorating ideas

When having a small apartment, without an office, how all this mess could be cleaned up and all papers filed nicely so no one will see these?

I have been trying to think some filing systems, binders and all, but all seems so ugly. How you file your important papers? And does everyone has a big computer desk at small apartment? Ours is way too big and we are thinking of putting it away..

What about filing all papers to a new cabinet like this? weird? and no table at all? Where we could work then, at the kitchen table or sofa, not so ergonomic, but we need to find a solution.

I have my second day off and I'm deadly tired still. I woke up early morning to drive our car from far away parking to inside of the city, because at morning can still find parking place during the festival, or middle of the night, but not daytime.

I feel like I have huge list what I need to do, some cleaning, arranging stuff, cooking and tonight seeing R's parents.
And I'm just sitting at the computer, doing nothing. Or actually cleaning my blog list, what was so long that I had forgotten most of the blogs and I deleted half of these.. I realised that I use too much time on internet, so I need to take time for other things too and for myself. And get a new hobby. Ideas?

Long way home and back to the routines

Today I am feeling tired, I have one week drive (and a little of visits) and 2000km sitting in a car behind me,plus a heavy weather what waited me back home with i-dont-know-how-many tourists and theather festivals. No good sleep at home either.

My week started with a visit to a doctor with my mom, who left our place then with swollen knee and walking sticks.Poor her.. Then off to work and my poor wrist couldn't take the cleaning and it's painful again. I wish I could find work that I love (secretary works..).

We took the car by boat from Helsinki to Rostock, Germany. It took 26hours to travel, then we were in Rostock by night, starting immediately first whole night drive to Cologne. We arrived around 6am there, waited until local gas station was open and had breakfast quickly. Uh, it was bad (really bad I tell you). We walked around the Cologne cathedral, discovered that they also have a "love locks" on the bridge near.

We were planning to stay this day in Cologne, and to find hotel for the coming night. But as we already saw the famous monuments in the city that morning, we took off and drove until Luxemburg! It was really hot day and the car's AC didn't work properly, pfew. We had really great lunch in the city, then continued driving towards Versailles, France. It was a surprise to my mom, from my dad, so cute. They visited there first and only time 15years ago and now again. We took a hotel from Versailles, and next day visited the chateau and it's amazing garden! I would have wanted to have a horse ride in the garden like a queen, but I found that possibility way too late.

and I found a spikey horse-chestnut.

We drove to Avignon after Versailles, there were so many people passing from north to south for holidays, that we needed to have hotel on the way, last day when we drove from Chalon to Avignon, it was 350km and it took 10hours!

Finally I am back home <3

Garden dreams

lovely terrace via we heart it

I have always had a balcony with many plants all over the place (read jungle)
and now for the first time, we don't have any balcony or terrace ( don't need to mention garden..)
in this apartment.
I miss the feeling of sitting outside on a summer day, having drink outside, eating breakfast there.
It came to my mind even more, as we have had coffee, lunch and everything at the garden here at my parent's home.

The problem is, how to find a perfect apartment with the terrace?
I already think the apartment is perfect, the terrace is just missing. And I would probably cry if we would move to another place.
And the plants.. What would survive in this crazy hot southern dry and burning climate?
Nothing. Unless it's fake.
Or just weird plant. Not my kind of.
I need herbs, veggies and flowers growing!

I have 4 days left in Finland!
I will miss everyone badly..
I will travel to Avignon with my parents, by car, 26hours in a boat from Helsinki to Germany, and then loooong way to Avignon.

Trip to Finland

I have been one week in Finland today, it has been great time here! I landed last Monday (night) to Finland, with amazing view of the archipelago in a sunset. Sunset at 1:30am.. still orange light and sun never getting really down. Have had problems with sleeping every night.. I'm turning to be a black eyed girl.

Tuesday we drove to north Finland with my sister and cousin, and we stayed few days at my aunt's place.
I visited also my grandma, she is living now in a retirement house.Earlier she was paralyzed and couldn't live alone anymore. Now she was doing much better and this year she did also remember me (Alzheimer's disease. so she didn't remember me earlier when we visited last summer)

I'm back at my parent's house, seeing friends and spending time with my parents.

One day, my dad gave me a new DSRL camera as a birthday gift! I tried to STOP him because I think it's too expensive gift.. but now I have it. New Canon 450D with 2 objectif's ( 18-55mm and 75-300mm) !

Today I'm feeling like having time for myself, so I will take train to Helsinki and see a movie alone. I chose to see Sex and the City 2, fun and light movie without too much thinking. I did like of the first one too and the series was really one of the favorites.

I should also spend more time with the old moving boxes I have here. It has been few years already like this, it's time to open all and sort what I need and what can be given away for red cross or some other organization.

Next Monday we will take a boat to Germany (me and my parents) and we will start driving towards France. It will be a long drive, but luckily we have some cities to visit.

Hope everyone is having a great monday like I do and enjoy of the sun!
